Regionals spiel!
I've been mulling over the whole Regionals experience and felt the need to post something but I kept struggling with how to adequately explain what I experienced this past weekend. Being an English teacher I think in metaphors and similes so what follows is like a picture of the Grand Canyon, and no matter how good the picture is there is now way it can actually compare to being there and experiencing it first hand.
Too many stories for one post. Talk to me or anyone else from the cheering section if you want to hear about the spectator side of the experience, the sense of commmunity with other boxes,or tales of alcohol related mischief. Talk to any of the athletes who competed, who are all super nice people for being complete Cross Fit bad asses and while they may appear intimidating mid-wod are cool beans and down to earth afterwards, to get a sense of what it takes to be there. Talk to Doug and Tara for their take which is more insightful into the workings of the Cross Fit world than mine could ever be.
There is a competition in Connecticut coming up the weekend of October 8th-9th, which I believe is Columbus Day Weekend, whether we have athletes from our box competing there or not I will be in attendance as a spectator jonesing for a fix of what I experienced this weekend. There are several people in this gym who, for different reasons HAVE to attend this event. I won't name names but if you find yourself in a conversation with me in the next couple of weeks do not be surprised if this topic comes up.
So clear your calendars and experience first hand what can not be described in words.
Link for the aforementioned event. Peruse at your discretion. (English teacher sentence ;)

I am very open to the idea of competing Rich.
I'm not sure if I'm at the level necessary to do so, but will do the best I can to be ready in time.
