I Found My Beast at the Beast of the East:
Written by Jackie Mulligan
This weekend was a milestone for me. Like the other events I've competed in over the last 2 years, I wasn't sure what to expect or how prepared I truly was- all I knew was that I was going to do my best and give it my all. Little did I know what that really meant. I ended up getting PR's in the 5k run, 1RM clean and jerk, and 500m row. I found my beast... And I'm not the only one. Every single team member from CFSS had a moment, or two, or three, where they pushed harder than they ever have and raised the bar for themselves. I was so motivated and inspired by all of the athletes around me, especially from our box. I was so proud to be a part of my team- the 4 of us worked so hard together and defined strength, heart and unity during every WOD. I had so much fun with all of you...I even caught myself dancing in the middle of WOD #4.Thank you Rich, Brian, Debbie, Joel, Lauren, Keri, Riggs, Rob, Nicole, Billy and Pete for such an amazing and unforgettable weekend. Doug and Tara, because of CFSS I've push myself to places I never thought I could go. I am confident. I am strong. I am ready for the next challenge. Thank you both for everything! I enjoyed all the bonding and experiences our group shared this weekend and I look forward to being in "Beast Mode" from here on out with my CFSS family.

Great post Brian ( yesterday) and Jackie. Brian was a first time CFSS competitor and Jackie, well she's not new to the scene. It was great to see the combining of our new competitors and past competitors in the same arena. Jim L had to back out at the last moment, which was a very hard decision for him to make. Rob stepped in and I know Jim, you would have been proud. Rob really stepped up and put his best effort forward. Our two athletes over 40, Rich and Pete well you both are amazing!! You both ate incredible athletes, and can most definitely hang with the youngins! Nicole, Lauren, Jackie and Keri all made that 90lbs stone look do easy!! All of you are incredible! Debbie, a new competitor had fire in those eyes!!! Riggs and Bill really stepped up their games like I have never seen!!
Everyone of you are incredible and I ( we) are truly blessed to have such incredible members!!
As for the below picture.........Hmmmmm

congrats to all of you for your amazing effort. Really kicking myself for not coming up to cheer you guys on and be a part of what sounds like an amazing experience.
And yes, as to the bottom picture, its not a matter of if, its a matter of when.

I was truly upset over missing the BOE; to be an athlete and be with good friends for the weekend. I'm not however, disappointed with the way things worked out. Rob stepped up and learned a lot about himself. He left his comfort zone to help me out and to help the team and as a result took a giant step forward. Great job Rob! I couldn't have asked for a better stunt double. It's great to hear the excitement in all your voices when you rehash the weekend. Continue to train with a purpose and you will all continue to thrive and reach new goals. As for me, I'm a little banged up but still unbroken and I will be ready to go hard with you all again. Oh, and that picture. Stay right on his shoulder Joel, all the way to The Games 2012!

As I slowly come down off Cloud 9 I continuosly catch myself thinking about this past weekend. The WODS, the crowd, and the people I was with. It really was a great weekend.
But there was something that I failed to mention yesterday and that was the fact that my two oldest kids were there to witness everything. They have been to the box numerous time and have seen me workout and do the CF thing. But as a father I always wanted there to be a day were my kids could see me compete. Two years ago at regionals I saw kids watching their parents compete and thought about a day that my kids would watch me in that environment. See me in that competitive atmosphere where you just let it all go and don't look back. Do they truly understand what took place, probably not. But, from my eyes, I couldnt have asked for anything else. They played CF games whenever there was a chance. They bonded with other CFSS kids. They watched and rooted everyone of us on while we competed. They congratulated and hugged me after I was done and said great job dad. The feeling that you get when your kids look at you in that way is PRICELESS!! Even better than a PR.
In retrospect, as i look at their situation, what i realize is they are really getting a head start on something that took me until my 40's to be a part of. WOW!!!! imagine being a kid again.
Thanks again everyone for a great weekend.
I am now officially off cloud 9 :)
Back to getting down and dirty.
